FIRST ARENA TO HOST ELMIRA BULLDOGS BASKETBALL IN FEBRUARY, 2010
FORMER NBA GREAT DENNIS RODMAN TO COACH BULLDOGS
ELMIRA, NY ~ The First Arena is pleased to announce that the First Arena will be home to the Elmira Bulldogs of the Eastern Basketball Alliance (EBA) for two games during the 2010 EBA season. The Bulldogs will be playing the Garden City Rebels on Friday, February 12th & the New York Wizards on Saturday, February 13th, 2010. Both contests will also mark the coaching debut of former NBA great Dennis Rodman. Rodman will be guiding the Bulldogs for both nights while Head Coach & General Manager James R. Schutz takes the “night off”.
The ever-colorful, flappable Rodman, also known as “The Worm” played for the Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks. He was known during his NBA career for his fierce defensive and rebounding abilities. Rodman played the forward position in the NBA while earning NBA All-Defensive Team honors seven times and was voted NBA Defensive Player of the Year twice. He also led the NBA in rebounds for a record seven consecutive years and won five NBA Championships.
“I am honored to be able to give my childhood hero Dennis Rodman my head coaching position for two games,” stated Schutz. With a grin, the Bulldogs coach added, “He has a lot more rings then I have. Five more, to be exact.”
Rodman’s agent Darren Prince, CEO of Prince Marketing Group, said that his client is looking forward to coaching the Bulldogs to victory in February. Rodman quoted, “I wanted the opportunity to be a coach and now that the Elmira Bulldogs have given me that chance I plan on showing them they made a very smart decision. I know a lot of teams will be interested in Coach Rodman when the weekend is over.”
“I think it is great for Elmira and the First Arena to have Dennis Rodman come to our area,” said First Arena General Manager Robbie S. Nichols. “There are not a lot of men that have won five NBA Championships. I am sure Rodman will be a treat to watch.” Nichols finalized the proceedings with a smile on his face, “Get your tickets early!”
Tickets are currently on sale at the First Arena Box Office and at all ticket master locations nationwide. Ticket prices for both contests are slated at $200.00 for Golden Circle Seats (which will include a post-game meet and greet with Rodman), $49.00, $30.00 & $24.00.
