Figure Skating at the First Arena
Group lessons are offered thru our skating school, sponsored by the Skating Club of the Southern Tier, for those beginning in figure skating - please see learn to skate section for details. Advanced lessons and clinics are listed below.

Freestyle Sessions are sponsored by the First Arena and the Skating Club of the Southern Tier and are open to any ISI or USFS member. Proof of current membership required prior to skating. Skaters may pay a "walk-on" fee or purchase discounted ice time packages. Although they are listed as "Freestyle" on the calendar, we welcome those skaters to participate in Ice Dancing and Moves in the Field. Guest coaches are welcome, subject to First Arena policies. Please note: In order to keep costs where they have been in the past, and be able to secure our ice times, we had to make adjustments to our partnership with the arena. We have implemented a volunteer policy this year thru the Skating Club to help keep costs down and reward our loyal skaters. Details will be handed out at registration. All skaters are welcome to participate in any of our programs/sessions. "Intro to" and other specialty clinics will be a la carte this year and will be scheduled by the skating director as the need arises - please watch for details - additional fees will be paid directly to the instructor(s).

*The First Arena reserves the right to cancel sessions, due to lack of pre-registration enrollment. Space is limited. There will be no refunds or make ups. Sessions will be capped if necessary, and walk-ons limited. Package skaters will receive priority. Skating director reserves the right to cancel or combine classes/ice times based on enrollment.

Updated 2/1/12 * We are hoping to offer Session II this Winter, but need to know how many registrations we will have in advance. If you are interested in Session II (scheduled to start Sunday, February 19th), please download the registration form below and indicate that you wish to participate in Session II. We need to have enough enrollment to continue! We've been having a great time on Sunday nights! Deadline is Feb. 15th. Any questions, please email robyn@icehotconcepts.net IT'S BACK! FAST HOCKEY.... The program designed for those who want to learn how to play hockey! FAST Hockey returns in January 2012 and will be offered to adults first (teens 14 and up with no playing experience are welcome too).... Walk-in registration will be on Sunday, Dec. 18th, at 8pm in the Rec Rink or you can mail or drop off forms and payment during Rec Rink or Box Office hours before January 4, 2012. Classes Start Sunday, January 8th, 2012 and will be held from 8:00-9:00pm. All participants must register (with payment) in advance. A limited number of rental skates will be available for use if necessary. Skaters need to have hockey equipment to participate (min.: helmet & cage, shin guards, pants, gloves, stick, mouthguard). At least one session of Learn to Skate is strongly recommended if you have little or no skating experience.
