Updated 6/09/09 ****WE ARE CURRENTLY RECRUITING SKATERS FOR THE '09/'10 SEASON - ALL AGES**** ***TEAM PRACTICES START THIS FALL, BUT SKATERS PRACTICE INDIVIDUALLY DURING THE SUMMER*** **INTRO TO SYNCHRO CLASS TO BE OFFERED THIS SUMMER** Southern Tier Sizzle Synchronized Skating Team(s) Site is under construction. Watch for updates as the season progresses! The schedule is listed below. Changes may be made based on the team make-up. If you are interested in being a member of either our youth team, teen or our adult team, please contact Robyn Bentley, Skating Director at 607-271-2212 or robyn@icehotconcepts.net. We'd love to hear from you. Our team(s) skate on Wednesdays and Sundays during the Fall and Winter. We are hoping to have 3 teams for the '09/'10 Season - Youth, Teen and Adult. We had a youth and a teen team for '07/'08, and a Sr. Youth for '08/'09. Recruiting is an on-going process and practices will start this Fall. What is synchronized team skating? Synchronized team skating involves groups of skaters performing various formations and moves to music. The objective in synchronized team skating is for involved skaters to perform as one unit as opposed to individual soloists. Who can be on a synchronized formation team? Skaters of any age can be involved in synchronized skating. However, completion of ISI Level Delta or its equivalent is highly recommended. Is there a team commitment? Yes. The team is an ongoing process. The Southern Tier Sizzle is currently recruiting new skaters. We strive to meet the individual goals of each skater, while offering a team atmosphere, and a year-round training facility. Synchro team members are required to skate both Sunday Synchro Session and Wed. Clinic Session at minimum...See Advanced Figure Skating Tab for more information. If you are interested in the team, please don't wait until Fall, let us know now...most of our skaters continue skating year round. Please remember that the synchronized skating team is a season-long commitment. Team members are also required to enroll in the Wed. Clinic* and are strongly encouraged to continue in the Skating School Group Classes and to participate in the Open Freestyle Time (either just for practice or with a professional for private lessons). *Any exceptions to this must be approved by the skating director, coach, and team manager.
